Lucknow, In a continuation of India’s recent policy to rename areas with Muslim names, the Yogi Adityanath-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh has officially changed the name of Amanullahpur in Sitapur district to Jamna Nagar. This move is part of a broader initiative seen across various regions of India, where places are being renamed to reflect Hindu heritage.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the notification of the name change was issued by Additional Chief Secretary Revenue, Sudhir Kumar Garg. The decision follows the central BJP government’s approval this past August to rename Amanullahpur in Uttar Pradesh along with three other villages in Rajasthan.
