US to Discuss Extradition of Pannu Murder Conspirator with India

Washington: The United States has confirmed ongoing discussions with India concerning the extradition of Vikas Yadav, the primary suspect in the conspiracy to murder Gurptwant Singh Pannu, a prominent leader of the Khalistan movement and Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). This revelation comes amid heightened diplomatic interactions between the two nations.

According to Kashmir Media Service, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller, during a press briefing, addressed the conspiracy case involving Pannu. Miller stated that two weeks ago, an Indian delegation visited the United States to further the investigation. The delegation provided a detailed briefing to American authorities, and the United States emphasized the importance of arresting and holding the accused accountable. Miller dismissed any reports regarding the expulsion of an Indian diplomat from the United States.

Miller also clarified that the US is not involved in the diplomatic tensions between Canada and India, both of which are currently expelling each other’s diplomats. He noted that this issue is internal to the two countries.

Addressing questions about the extradition of Vikas Yadav to the United States, Miller indicated that discussions with India on this matter are ongoing, with the final decision resting with the US Department of Justice. Additionally, Canada has shared information with the United States based on its investigation into the conspiracy against Pannu, who holds both US and Canadian citizenship.
