Srinagar, The US Embassy in Islamabad has expanded its cultural outreach by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the establishment of a new Lincoln Corner at the institution.
According to a news release by Kashmir Media Service reports that the state-of-the-art Lincoln Corner will be located at the King Abdullah Campus (KAC) of the university for a period of two years. The agreement was sealed by Tina Malone, Minister Counselor for Public Diplomacy at the US Embassy, and Registrar of UAJK Prof Dr Ghulam Murtaza Qureshi, in a ceremony that took place at KAC. Present at the event were eminent figures, including Dr Cynthia Nicholas, Regional Public Engagement Specialist, alongside representatives from the US Embassy, Deans, Principal Officers, and numerous UAJK faculty members and students.
During the ceremony, Malone praised the collaboration with UAJK and highlighted her admiration for the scenic beauty of Kashmir during her inaugural trip outside of Islamabad. Registrar Prof Dr Ghulam Murtaza, on the other hand, hailed the establishment of the Lincoln Corner at King Abdullah Campus as a significant event, expressing gratitude to the US Embassy for considering UAJK’s appeal to initiate another Corner at KAC. Dr Murtaza also spotlighted the original Lincoln Corner, set up in the city campus in 2007, as a symbol of knowledge exchange and mutual comprehension bridging UAJK with the global community, especially the US.
