US Ambassador Discusses Trade, Afghan Refugees, and Economy with Senate Leader in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, In a key meeting today at Parliament House, US Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Donald Blome, engaged with the Leader of the House in Senate, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, to deliberate on an array of mutual interests, including the enhancement of the robust trade relationship between Pakistan and the United States.

According to Senate of Pakistan, the discussions covered Pakistan’s role as a partner in regional peace, particularly with respect to the Afghan Refugees Issue, with Ambassador Blome appreciating Pakistan’s efforts. The talks also touched upon Pakistan’s sovereignty in managing illegal and undocumented migrants, including Afghan nationals.

Further topics included the ongoing International Monetary Fund’s SBA program, with Senator Dar sharing a positive outlook on the imminent second review and the economic prospects post-General Elections in early 2024. Senator Dar expressed his aspiration for a fair electoral process, providing a level playing field for all political contenders.
