UP leads the list of states recording most cases of HR violations in India

New Delhi, December 10, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Indian state of Uttar Pradesh tops the list of states with the highest number of human rights violation cases filed annually by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) till October 31, according to the details given by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs to the Rajya Sabha.

This is the third year in a row that the state has topped the list, contributing 40% of the chunk of cases to the inglorious list. According to the data, the state recorded 24,242 cases this year till October 31.

The Home Ministry gave the response to a question by DMK MP M. Shanmugam asking whether human rights violations were on the rise in the country. The information revealed by Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand in the parliament was compiled by NHRC which is mandated to investigate such cases.
