UP Govt asks madrassas to start educational activities with Indian anthem 

Lucknow, September 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):The BJP government in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has issued a new timetable for madrasas in which educational activities will start with the national anthem of India and prayers. The educational work in these madrasas will be held from 9 am till 3 pm previously, the working hours were between 9 am and 2 pm, and Indian media reported quoting the instructions from Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Education Board.

Earlier, the board made it compulsory for teachers and students to recite national anthem of India before the start of the class. The state government had also announced a survey of the madrassas that started on September 10 across all 78 districts. Teams formed in the districts have to submit the report to District Magistrates within 25 days who will forward the report to the State government by October 25.

Various political parties also opposed the state government’s move with Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati saying that the ruling dispensation was terrorizing the Muslim community with such acts.
