Karachi, The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has recognized Pakistan’s significant achievements in the tourism sector for the year 2023, marking a substantial rebound in the industry.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Aftab Rana, the Managing Director of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), in an interaction with APP, reported a remarkable 115 percent increase in foreign tourist arrivals in Pakistan. This surge signifies a robust recovery of the sector following the Covid-19 pandemic.
Rana further elaborated that the PTDC actively participated in six major global events last year, which were instrumental in establishing Business to Business (B2B) connections with foreign tour operators, thereby boosting Pakistan’s tourism profile.
Additionally, Wasi Shah, the Caretaker Minister for Tourism, congratulated the PTDC team for their successful efforts and expressed optimism for even greater achievements in the coming year, 2024.
The UNWTO’s acknowledgment and the reported surge in tourism are indicative of Pakistan’s growing prominence as a desirable tourist destination on the global stage.
