New Delhi, November 10, 2022 (PPI-OT):Illegally detained Chairman of International Forum for Justice and Human Rights Muhammad Ahsan Untoo has expressed concern over the plight of Kashmiri detainees, languishing in different jails of India and the territory. Muhammad Ahsan Untoo in a message from New Delhi’s Tihar jail said the directives given by the Supreme Court of India to the courts regarding the release of prisoners are only related to the workers of Hindutva organizations Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP( and Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP).
He said the Chief Justice of the Indian Supreme Court, taking notice of the plight of the prisoners in the jails, has directed the high courts and district courts to facilitate the release or bail of the prisoners. However, he said this order will not be applied to the illegally detained Kashmiris, but this order is only for the jailed workers and leaders associated with Hindutva organizations.
Muhammad Ahsan Untoo said Ghulam Qadir Butt, a resident of Kupwara, has been facing life imprisonment for the past 28 years, Nazir Ahmed, a resident of Batta Malo, has been illegally detained for 22 years, while Muhammad Ayub, a resident of Srinagar, and Muhammad Ashraf, a resident of Islamabad, have been imprisoned for 18 years. Ahsan Untoo said that instructions had been given to the courts and prison administration for the Kashmiri detainees to make their release difficult so that they could not come out of the prisons alive.
