Unresolved Kashmir dispute threat to peace in S. Asia: AJK President

Washington, October 27, 2022 (PPI-OT): The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, has said that the unresolved Kashmir dispute has posed a serious threat to peace and stability in South Asia. Addressing a seminar organized by the Pakistan Embassy in Washington on the Kashmir Black Day, today, the AJK President said that India had illegally occupied the territory of Jammu and Kashmir by landing its troops in Srinagar soon after foundation of the Azad Kashmir government was laid on October 24, 1947 under the leadership of Ghazi-e-Millat Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan.

He termed the Indian invasion of Kashmir as illegal and said that Kashmiris had never accepted Indian illegal hold over the territory. Barrister Sultan said the sacrifices of the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir will not go in vain and the day was not far when they will get freedom from Indian yoke. He urged the international community to play its role to settle the lingering Kashmir dispute.

Ambassador Sardar Masood Khan in his address reiterated Pakistan’s continued support to the Kashmir cause. He said that the United Nations should play its pivotal role in settling the Kashmir dispute in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. The seminar was attended and addressed among others by Kashmiri leaders Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai and Dr Imtiaz Khan.
