Islamabad: In a statement today, UNICEF strongly condemned the devastating attack in Mastung, Balochistan, which resulted in the deaths of at least five children and injuries to 17 individuals, many of whom are schoolchildren.
According to United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, the attack occurred near a school, involving the detonation of an explosive device. UNICEF extended its condolences to the families of the victims and expressed hope for a quick recovery for the wounded. The agency emphasized that schools must be sanctuaries of safety where children can learn and develop without fear. The statement highlighted the unacceptable nature of violence in educational and health facilities, underscoring that no child should have to risk their life by simply going to school.
UNICEF reiterated its call for an immediate end to such violence and stressed the importance of safeguarding the rights and security of all children.
