Unemployment belies BJP’s growth claims: Tarigami

Srinagar, October 16, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, has said that Jammu and Kashmir’s unemployment rate of 21.6 per cent and inflation rate of 7.39 per cent belie the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government’s claims of growth and development in the territory after the abrogation of Article 370.

Tarigami said in a statement issued in Srinagar said, the data released by the Indian Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) shows that IIOJK has the highest unemployment rate than any Indian state. Tarigami said the Indian government gives concocted and fabricated stories vis-à-vis development, employment and other parameters of growth to mislead the people.

He said that the level of unemployment in the territory can be gauged from the fact that tens of thousands of highly educated unemployed youth applied for 8,575 Class IV posts advertised by the J and K Services Selection Board in June last year. These figures expose the claims of the BJP government that IIOJK witnessed large growth and development after the revocation of special status under Article 370 in August 2019, he said.
