Lahore, August 22, 2023 (PPI-OT): On the instructions of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, special measures are being taken for the treatment of special children of police employees suffering from various diseases, and in this regard, DIG Welfare Punjab Ghazi Muhammad Salahuddin said in a special message about the treatment facilities for special children, that the “Humaray Phool” project for the treatment of special children of police employees is successfully ongoing, so far the registration, diagnosis, screening and treatment of 2500 children of police employees have been completed.
Cochlear implants are given to hearing-impaired children, monthly stipend is also being given to thalassemia children, therapy, medicine, treatment and education for special children have been arranged at the district level. MoUs will be signed with the Hamza, Sada, and Sundus Foundations.
DIG Welfare Punjab Ghazi Muhammad Salahuddin said that the special education department of the Punjab government is also rendering valuable services for the welfare of special children, and 302 institutions in different regions, districts, and tehsils of the province under the management of the Special Education Department are active in providing facilities to special children.
Special children are provided with free admission, books, uniforms, and pick-up and drop-off facilities in these institutions for education. DIG Welfare added that the special education department has reached an agreement with the United Nations organization UNICEF, according to which the special children registered in these institutions, will be provided with free treatment facilities after a medical examination
He said that all district heads and parents should enroll their special children in special education institutions; speech therapy, language, and psychologist facilities are available in these institutions; audiological tests and eye tests can be done.
All parents should visit such schools in their district headquarters, tehsils, and towns and enroll their children. DIG Welfare Punjab Ghazi Muhammad Salahuddin further said that the Punjab Police Department will continue to play its best role in the treatment of special children of police.
