UN Secretary-General António Guterres Visits Islamabad for High-Level Talks

ISLAMABAD: United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has arrived in Islamabad for a three-day official visit to Pakistan, organized at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. His visit aims to engage with Pakistani leadership and address key issues concerning international peace and security.

According to Radio Pakistan, Guterres was welcomed by Acting Foreign Secretary Ambassador Nabeel Munir upon his arrival. During his stay, the Secretary-General is scheduled to meet with several high-ranking officials, including the President, the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister, and military leaders such as the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces.

Guterres is also expected to visit the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan’s headquarters and participate in a briefing at the National Disaster Management Authority Pakistan. The visit will include discussions on Pakistan’s contributions to multilateralism and its efforts in disaster preparedness and early warning systems.
