Islamabad, Highlighting the ongoing relevance of the United Nations in Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed, the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir, articulated that the UN’s involvement underscores the indisputable legitimacy of the Kashmir dispute.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Dr. Mushtaq conveyed these thoughts at a dinner honoring journalists from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the Indian-occupied region. He urged the international community to guard against any efforts to diminish the Kashmir issue through subversive means.
Dr. Mushtaq reiterated the resolve of the Kashmiri people under Indian occupation to continue their struggle for autonomy, in defiance of India’s repressive measures. He also criticized the recent allocation of land in Budgam district to the government of Maharashtra as a move aimed at changing the demographic makeup of the Muslim-majority area.
In a significant announcement, Dr. Mushtaq disclosed plans for Jamaat-e-Islami to hold an international conference on Kashmir on July 13, aiming to draw global attention to the pressing nature of the conflict. He called upon the international community to play a more proactive role in seeking a resolution.
Dr. Mushtaq also highlighted the responsibility of Azad Kashmir’s inhabitants in supporting the liberation effort, pointing to the UN’s ongoing presence as a clear indication of the Kashmir dispute’s recognized importance on the world stage.
