Islamabad: Pakistan and the Republic of Korea have started co-hosting the United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial Preparatory Meeting in Islamabad. This two-day event is paving the way for the upcoming UN Peacekeeping Ministerial meeting scheduled next month in Berlin, Germany.

The Islamabad meeting includes a series of panel discussions. These discussions will cover topics such as the future challenges facing peacekeeping operations, the contribution of technology to enhancing the safety and effectiveness of peacekeeping, and the role of regional organizations in supporting UN peace operations.

Additionally, the meeting will address the effective performance of peacekeepers and promote an integrated approach to achieving sustainable peace.

This event provides a platform for Pakistan to showcase its commitment to UN peacekeeping efforts. As one of the leading troop-contributing countries, Pakistan has sent 235,000 peacekeepers to 48 UN missions over the years. Notably, 181 Pakistani peacekeepers have lost their lives while serving international peace and security.
