Geneva, The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, is set to hold a press conference on Wednesday, 6 December, at the UN headquarters in Geneva. The conference is scheduled ahead of the upcoming Human Rights Day, which marks a significant milestone this year.
According to Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the press conference will take place at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, starting at 11:00 AM CET. This year’s Human Rights Day is particularly notable as it celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted on 10 December 1948.
The event will be broadcast live on UN Web TV, with simultaneous interpretation available in Arabic and French. Turk’s opening remarks will be circulated initially in English via email, and continuity b-roll and news edits of the press conference will be provided to broadcasters. The press conference is expected to provide insights into the current state of human rights globally and the UN’s role in upholding these rights.
