Geneva, The United Nations expert on Afghanistan human rights, Richard Bennett, has issued an urgent plea to the Taliban for the release of women human rights defenders in observance of International Women’s Day.
According to Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Bennett highlighted the critical plight of Afghan women and girls, facing severe discrimination and calling for their rights. He emphasized the necessity for the Taliban to honor the fundamental human rights of women, including access to education, employment, and freedom of movement and expression. Bennett’s call to action stresses the immediate and unconditional release of those unjustly detained for advocating women’s and girls’ rights.
