UN Coordinator Discusses Development and Energy Transition with Pakistan’s Finance Minister


Islamabad: In a significant meeting at the Finance Division, Mr. Muhammad Yahya, the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Pakistan, engaged with Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue. The discussion focused on ongoing UN development and humanitarian projects in Pakistan, potential cooperation on energy transition, and the successes of UNESCAP in debt consolidation.



According to Press Information Department, Mr. Yahya outlined the contributions of various UN agencies to development and humanitarian assistance in Pakistan. He highlighted the successful initiatives of UNESCAP, particularly in the area of debt consolidation for middle-income countries, and emphasized the potential for collaboration with Pakistan on energy transition projects. The Finance Minister expressed the government’s commitment to policy reforms and sustainable economic development. He appreciated the support from the UN and its agencies and noted the critical importance of climate finance and energy transition to enhance the viability of the energy sector in Pakistan.



The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their dedication to addressing Pakistan’s development challenges and implementing sustainable solutions that benefit all societal segments.
