Karachi, December 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):United Nations has decided to convene a donor conference in Devas on January 15 for the rehabilitation of flood affected people of Pakistan in which Sindh government would also present its case. This emerged on Thursday in a meeting between Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and United Nations delegation led by its Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Mr Julien Harneis here at CM House.
The chief minister said that Pakistan, particularly Sindh were the first victims of climate change in the shape unprecedented rains which displaced a large number of people in the province. Mr Shah said that the cumulative losses and damages have been estimated at around $7.86 billion which Sindh could not manage to meet from its resources.
The UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator said that the UN was convening donor conference in Devas, Switzerland on January 10 in which Sindh must present its case vigorously. The chief minister directed P and D department to prepare a proper presentation along with data so that it could be shown to international community in the conference.
