UN Chief Welcomes Ceasefire, Urges Regional Peace


Islamabad: The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, has welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India, a move seen as a significant advancement toward regional peace and stability in South Asia. Pakistan has expressed gratitude for the Secretary-General’s acknowledgement and concurs with his view that the ceasefire is a step in the right direction.



The Pakistani government emphasized the importance of a peaceful resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, which it sees as crucial for lasting peace in the region. According to a statement from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the resolution should align with United Nations Security Council resolutions and reflect the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.



Moreover, Pakistan affirmed its commitment to engaging in constructive dialogue founded on the principles of the UN Charter and international law.
