Srinagar, October 06, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Vice Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar, has called upon the United Nations to fulfil its responsibilities regarding holding of plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir to enable its people to decide their political future by themselves

Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar in a message from Srinagar Central Jail said India’s denial to Kashmiris’ inalienable right to self-determination is a blatant violation of the UN Charter. He asked for declaring India under fascist Modi as a terrorist state for flouting the World Body’s mandate on Kashmir and threatening the peace in the south Asian region. He maintained that Pakistan’s continued support has been a source of encouragement for the oppressed people of Jammu and Kashmir.

APHC leaders Khadim Hussain and Syed Sibte Shabbir Qummi demanded immediate release of all illegally detained Kashmiri political prisoners including cancer patient Altaf Ahmad Shah from Indian jails. They questioned the IIOJK’s visit by Indian Home Minister Amit Shah who put thousands of Kashmiris including Hurriyat leaders and activists in jails.

In New Delhi, Altaf Ahmad Shah who has been languishing in Tihar Jail for the past over five years informed the court that he was suffering from the last stage of renal cancer. However, instead of releasing him on bail to get the treatment of his choice, the court sent him to All India Institute of Medical Sciences for check-up.

National Conference President, Farooq Abdullah, addressing public gatherings in different areas of Kishtwar appealed to the people to stand up for restoration of their rights snatched by the Modi-led Indian government. He denounced the BJP government for stoking communal, regional and ethnic discords to divide the Kashmiri people.

Meanwhile, famous Indian writer, intellectual and activist Arundhati Roy while giving a lecture at the Conway Hall in London said that the Kashmir valley, from which no news can come out, offers a scene of a giant prison. She expressed the fear that soon the territory would have more Indian soldiers than local people. She informed the audience that every communication by Kashmiris, private or public, even the very rhythm of their breathing, is supervised while in schools, Muslim children are being taught to sing Hindu bhajans.

Exposing the Modi government’s way of treating the Kashmiri people she said, when she thinks of Kashmir these days for some reason she thinks of how, in some parts of the world, watermelons are being trained to grow in square moulds so that they are cube-shaped and easier to stack. In the Kashmir valley, she added, it looks as though the Indian government is running that experiment on humans instead of melons at gunpoint.
