Peshawar: The Joint Review Meeting of the United Nations portfolio took place in Peshawar, focusing on the evaluation of ongoing UN projects across the region. The meeting, co-chaired by Mr. Ikramullah Khan, Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning and Development Department, and Mr. Mohamed Yahya, United Nations Resident Coordinator, emphasized the critical role of these initiatives in regional development.
According to Planning and Development Department – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the session highlighted the substantial contributions made by the UN in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with discussions centered on achieving Sustainable Development Goals. Mr. Ikramullah Khan expressed gratitude for the UN’s support and reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering these collaborative efforts.
Mr. Yahya acknowledged the provincial government’s cooperation, noting the positive outcomes stemming from their joint efforts in development initiatives. The meeting, attended by relevant secretaries, chief economists, and representatives from various departments, provided a platform to assess the progress and ensure the continued success of UN-supported projects in the region.
Key topics addressed included basic social services, gender equality and women’s empowerment, climate change, sustainable economic growth, and governance. These discussions aimed to chart transformative pathways for achieving development goals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
