UK Pledges Continued Support for Pakistan’s Climate Resilience and Sustainable Development Efforts

Islamabad, The United Kingdom has reiterated its support for Pakistan in its endeavors to achieve climate resilience and sustainable development. This reaffirmation was expressed during a meeting between Jo Moir, Director Development at the British High Commission Islamabad, and Muhammad Sami Saeed, Caretaker Minister for Planning, in Islamabad.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting served as a platform for both parties to discuss the current cooperation portfolio and express their mutual intention to strengthen this partnership in the future. The Planning Minister acknowledged and appreciated the long-standing assistance provided by the British High Commission, emphasizing its significant role in Pakistan’s socioeconomic development.

The Minister also expressed gratitude for the UK’s continued support, especially in ongoing development projects within the climate sector. He highlighted Pakistan’s National Climate Finance Strategy, designed to identify sectoral priorities and scale climate finance, and the establishment of the Sustainable Finance Bureau, aimed at revolutionizing climate finance in the country.

Jo Moir, representing the British High Commission, commended the initiatives taken by the Planning Ministry in Pakistan. She assured the UK’s full support in these endeavors, reflecting the commitment of the UK to assist Pakistan in its journey towards environmental sustainability and economic growth.
