UK-Pakistan Talks Focus on Border Management and Police Training


London: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with his British counterpart, Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, to discuss enhancing cooperation on border management, legal assistance in criminal cases, and curbing illegal immigration. The meeting also covered the training of Pakistani police officers in the UK, a move welcomed by Minister Naqvi.



According to Press Information Department, the discussions highlighted the mutual interest in strengthening legal frameworks and operational cooperation to tackle challenges like illegal immigration. Minister Naqvi praised the ongoing British support for training Pakistani law enforcement and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between developed and developing nations to manage borders effectively and safely.



The British Home Secretary reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to its relationship with Pakistan, indicating ongoing support across various sectors. The meeting, which also saw participation from senior officials, including the Pakistani High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Muhammad Faisal, concluded with an invitation from Minister Naqvi to Secretary Cooper to visit Pakistan, aiming to further solidify bilateral ties.
