Lahore, December 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):Secretary Specialized Healthcare Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi said that the Universal Health Insurance program to be launched across Punjab from January 1, 2022 will help promote culture of competitiveness amongst public and private hospitals in respect of provision of modern healthcare facilities. Around 30 million families will benefit from Naya Pakistan Qaumi Sehat Card upto Rs.1million annually in empanelled hospitals, he added.
The secretary specialized healthcare was addressing the Orientation Session held in connection with Universal Health Insurance program held at SIMS today which was attended by VCs, principals of medical colleges and MSs of teaching hospitals. Special Secretary Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti and other senior officers were also present. The Special Secretary Development Dr Asif Tufail gave briefing to the participants of the session in detail about objectives of the UHI program.
Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi said that the married man, his spouse and children below the age of 18 as per record of NADRA are entitled of Sehat Card. Widow, in case, will be considered as family head who is eligible to get Sehat card. Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi said that the under the UHI program only indoor patients in private and public hospitals will be provided with healthcare care in respect of cardiac, diabetes, kidney, cancer, chronic disease, thalassemia, hepatitis, pregnancy and delivery. Outdoor patients are not entitled for getting medical treatment under this program, he clarified. Later, the secretary specialized healthcare responded to quarries from principals and medical superintendents of the hospitals.
