UAE Government Announces Amnesty Scheme; Pakistani Embassies Extend Support to Nationals

Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has launched an amnesty scheme effective from September 1 to October 31, 2024, offering a window for regularization to its residents. In response, the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai are ramping up efforts to assist Pakistani nationals in taking full advantage of this initiative.

According to Press Information Department, the UAE government’s amnesty scheme aims to allow residents without formal status or those needing to update their official documents a chance to rectify their status without penalty. To aid in this process, the Pakistani diplomatic missions in the UAE are implementing several supportive measures.

Firstly, the National Identity Cards (NICs), Passport Sections, and attestation services of the Pakistani Embassy and Consulate will remain operational on Saturdays until the end of October 2024. This extension of office hours is designed to accommodate the increased demand from those needing to renew, update, or validate their documents in light of the amnesty.

Additionally, the Out-Pass Sections at these diplomatic posts are actively issuing out-passes or emergency travel documents. These are intended for Pakistani nationals who currently do not have passports and need to travel back to Pakistan urgently.

The Embassy and Consulate General have expressed their commitment to supporting the Pakistani community in the UAE during this amnesty period. They have also called on all eligible Pakistani nationals to utilize this opportunity to regularize their status under the UAE government’s scheme.
