Islamabad: Ambassador Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi of the United Arab Emirates met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House in a meeting centered on regional security and bilateral ties.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif extended his greetings to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and expressed gratitude for the UAE’s continued support. He highlighted the longstanding and fraternal relations between the two nations.
Prime Minister Sharif discussed recent developments in South Asia, specifically addressing the Pahalgam incident. He condemned terrorism and noted the heavy toll it has taken on Pakistan, with significant casualties and economic losses.
Sharif rejected India’s accusations linking Pakistan to the Pahalgam incident, asserting there was no evidence to support such claims. He proposed a neutral international investigation and mentioned efforts to communicate Pakistan’s stance to friendly nations.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of regional peace and highlighted the economic progress achieved with support from allies, including the UAE. He called on countries like the UAE to encourage India to de-escalate tensions in the region.
Ambassador Al-Zaabi expressed appreciation for the dialogue and assured the Prime Minister of the UAE’s commitment to working with Pakistan for regional stability and peace.
