Islamabad: U.S. Strategic Metals (USSM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Pakistan’s Frontier Works Organization (FWO), marking a step forward in critical mineral cooperation. The signing ceremony, held at the Prime Minister House, was attended by Embassy Islamabad Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Zach Harkenrider and a delegation led by USSM.
Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker emphasized the importance of this agreement in strengthening the U.S.-Pakistan bilateral relationship. “This signing is yet another example of the strength of the U.S.-Pakistan bilateral relationship that will benefit both countries,” she stated.
USSM, headquartered in Missouri, focuses on the production and recycling of critical minerals. These minerals are deemed essential by the U.S. Department of Energy for various advanced manufacturing and energy technologies.
Baker highlighted the Trump administration’s focus on such agreements, citing their significance to American security and prosperity. “The Trump administration has made the forging of such deals a key priority given the importance of critical mineral resources,” she remarked.
The MOU could pave the way for future collaborations between U.S. companies and Pakistan in the critical minerals and mining sector, fostering economic growth and technological advancement.
