Islamabad: Deputy Political Counsellor Ms. Karen Bronson and Political Officer Mr. Nelson Raymond from the U.S Embassy Islamabad called on MNA/Secretary Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) Dr. Shahida Rehmani at the Parliament House on Tuesday, the 12th of November 2024. The meeting underscored the pivotal role of the WPC, a cross-party and non-partisan body of Women Parliamentarians, in advocating for the rights of women and children. The discussion also emphasized WPC’s contributions to legislative processes aimed at ensuring the protection and empowerment of women and children in Pakistan.
According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the meeting highlighted the importance of collaboration between international and local bodies to further gender equality and child protection initiatives. The U.S. officials expressed interest in understanding the challenges faced by the WPC and explored potential avenues for support.
