U.S. Delegation Engages with Pakistan on Mineral Development and Regional Security


Rawalpindi: A high-level United States delegation, led by Eric Meyer, Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, met with General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, at the General Headquarters. The meeting coincided with Pakistan’s Mineral Investment Forum, highlighting a renewed focus on economic collaboration.



The delegation expressed confidence in Pakistan’s policy aimed at developing its considerable mineral resources through partnerships. Mr. Meyer emphasized the U.S. administration’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with Pakistan in mineral development, which is considered a core area of mutual interest.



Discussions also covered the improving investment climate in Pakistan. Both parties shared their perspectives on global developments and security concerns in the region. There was mutual agreement on the positive direction of U.S.-Pakistan relations and the potential to expand business-to-business interactions alongside existing government and people-to-people collaborations.



The meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to strengthen bilateral relations and explore avenues for comprehensive cooperation.
