Peshawar, In a collaborative effort to enhance safety and emergency responsiveness among journalists, the U.S. Consulate in Peshawar and the Peshawar Press Club conducted a first aid training session for 13 journalists from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The training aimed to equip journalists with essential skills to handle emergencies while on duty.
According to Embassy of the United States of America, Timothy Gibson, a Medical Specialist with the U.S. Consulate who has over 32 years of emergency medical experience, led the training. Gibson instructed the journalists on basic first aid techniques crucial for stabilizing patients until professional medical help can be secured. The session covered a range of practical skills tailored to the needs of journalists who are often among the first to arrive at scenes of accidents or emergencies.
The training culminated with U.S. Consul General Shante Moore distributing certificates and first-aid kits to all participants. Moore emphasized the importance of journalist safety and expressed hope that the training would prepare them to effectively manage emergency situations they might face while reporting. The journalists, in turn, expressed greater confidence in handling potential health emergencies following the hands-on training.
