U.S. Congressmen Engage in Key Talks with Pakistan on Counterterrorism and Investment

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi hosted a delegation of U.S. Congressmen in an important meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation in various sectors. The delegation included Congressmen Jack Bergman, Tom Suozzi, and Jonathan Jackson, accompanied by Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry, Acting U.S. Ambassador Natalie Baker, and Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Agha.

The discussions explored avenues for cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, and investment. Both sides also delved into matters of security, with particular emphasis on counterterrorism and border security. Mohsin Naqvi underscored the significance of strong relations with the United States within Pakistan’s foreign policy framework.

Naqvi highlighted the importance of Pakistan’s role in counterterrorism, noting that the country acts as a buffer against terrorism for the global community. He called for international support, especially in intelligence and technology sharing, to combat terrorism effectively. He emphasized Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and voiced optimism about the U.S. Congressmen’s visit in promoting Pakistan’s efforts.

The Interior Minister welcomed the delegates’ participation in the upcoming Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2025, assuring them of robust government support and security for investors. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry pointed to the significance of the forthcoming Counter-Terrorism Dialogue in Islamabad in June as a pivotal event for fostering mutual cooperation.

The U.S. Congressmen acknowledged the need to spotlight Pakistan’s contributions in the fight against terrorism. They also praised the Pakistani diaspora in the United States for their talent and industriousness.
