Karachi, The U.S. Government and the Sindh Government have concluded the Sindh Basic Education Program (SBEP), marking the occasion at a ceremony in Karachi. The $159.2 million USAID-funded initiative resulted in the construction of 106 climate-resilient schools and the enhancement of educational infrastructure in Sindh.
According to Embassy of The United States of America, U.S. Ambassador Donald Blome, alongside key Sindh education officials, commemorated the program’s achievements, emphasizing education as a cornerstone for children’s future success. The SBEP, which was a response to the 2010-11 floods, now provides over 80,000 students with access to quality education facilities that withstood the 2022 floods and supported surrounding communities. The initiative also introduced innovative school management models, fostering community strength and laying the groundwork for public-private educational partnerships.
Islamabad, In a significant operation, the Islamabad Capital Police Khanna police team apprehended two key members of a notorious snatcher gang, recovering stolen cash, mobile phones, a motorbike, and weapons used in their crimes. This action is part of a broader crackdown against criminal elements within the city, aimed at enhancing public safety and security.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the operation was conducted following the special instructions of Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan to intensify efforts against criminals and reduce crime rates in Islamabad. Utilizing both technical and human intelligence resources, the Khanna police team was able to locate and arrest Ehsan Abbasi and Bilal Khalil, who were wanted for their involvement in numerous criminal activities across the city.
The successful apprehension of these individuals led to the recovery of significant amounts of snatched cash, several mobile phones, a motorbike, and various weapons, all of which were used in the commission of their crimes. Following their arrest, cases have been registered against Abbasi and Khalil, and further investigations are underway to determine the full extent of their criminal activities.
The Islamabad Capital Police have also issued a call to citizens, urging them to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious individuals or activities. This can be done through the emergency helpline “Pucar-15” or the “ICT-15” mobile application, both of which are designed to facilitate rapid response and engagement with the community.
