U.S. and Sindh Government Mark Completion of $159.2 Million Education Program

Karachi, The U.S. Government and the Sindh Government have concluded the Sindh Basic Education Program (SBEP), marking the occasion at a ceremony in Karachi. The $159.2 million USAID-funded initiative resulted in the construction of 106 climate-resilient schools and the enhancement of educational infrastructure in Sindh.

According to Embassy of The United States of America, U.S. Ambassador Donald Blome, alongside key Sindh education officials, commemorated the program’s achievements, emphasizing education as a cornerstone for children’s future success. The SBEP, which was a response to the 2010-11 floods, now provides over 80,000 students with access to quality education facilities that withstood the 2022 floods and supported surrounding communities. The initiative also introduced innovative school management models, fostering community strength and laying the groundwork for public-private educational partnerships.
