Karachi, In a significant boost to Pakistan’s energy sector, U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, announced that more than $30 million has been mobilized in cleantech investments since the last investment roadshow in May 2023. The announcement came during the second Cleantech Sector Investment Road Show organized by the USAID Pakistan Private Sector Energy project. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to foster sustainable solutions and economic prosperity through clean energy investments in Pakistan.
According to Embassy of the United States of America, the roadshow highlighted the potential for further investments and innovations in Pakistan’s energy market. Ambassador Blome praised the collaborative efforts towards achieving the government’s ambitious renewable energy goals and commended the Pakistani government for its reform initiatives aimed at developing a competitive energy market. He encouraged continued engagement from all stakeholders to drive further investments and innovations in the cleantech sector.
The U.S.-Pakistan collaboration under the “Green Alliance” framework has already facilitated significant achievements, including the connection of 780 megawatts of wind power to the national grid and securing over $900 million in private investments for clean energy projects. These efforts underscore a joint commitment to reducing carbon emissions and enhancing sustainable development. The ambassador’s remarks concluded with a call to action for ongoing commitment and collaboration to drive positive change in the energy sector for both Pakistan and the global community.
