Two Pakistani Female Peacekeepers Awarded UN Gender Advocacy Award


Islamabad: Two Pakistani female peacekeepers have been honored with the United Nations’ Gender Advocacy Award for their exceptional contributions to peacekeeping missions. Major Sania Safdar and Major Komal Masood were recognized for their outstanding performance in advancing women’s participation in peacekeeping efforts.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, both officers displayed remarkable professionalism and dedication during their service. Major Sania Safdar served in the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus, while Major Komal Masood was stationed in the Central African Republic. Their work significantly contributed to the missions’ peace and stability efforts, particularly in promoting the role of women in peacekeeping operations.



The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) highlighted that this recognition is a testament to Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to the United Nations Peacekeeping mandate and its efforts to support the meaningful inclusion of women in peace and security initiatives.
