Two Kashmiri Women Detained Under Public Safety Act in Udhampur

Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, police have detained two Kashmiri women under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Udhampur district, intensifying the ongoing crackdown on the region’s civilian population.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the women, Maryama Begum and Arshad Begum, both from Basantgarh, have been accused of aiding the pro-freedom struggle. The PSA, which has faced criticism from international human rights organizations, permits authorities to detain individuals without trial for up to two years. This law is often applied to political activists, journalists, and now, women in the occupied territory.

The families of the detained women, along with local leaders, have demanded their immediate release, arguing that the charges are unfounded and politically motivated.
