Two Indian Women Pilgrims Perish in Landslide Near Vaishno Devi Shrine


Jammu: In a devastating landslide near the Vaishno Devi shrine in Reasi district, two Indian women lost their lives and a minor girl was critically injured. The incident occurred on a newly constructed path leading to the religious site, causing significant structural damage and trapping the pilgrims beneath debris.



According to Kashmir Media Service, the landslide struck the area close to Panchi, damaging part of an overhead iron structure on the new route to the shrine. The collapse of the structure during the landslide resulted in fatal injuries for two women and severe injuries for a young girl. The officials confirmed that the victims were caught under the fallen iron structure.



The women who died at the scene were identified as 21-year-old Neha from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and 25-year-old Sapna from Dhianpur, Gurdaspur, Punjab. The injured girl, whose details were not immediately disclosed, was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.



In a related incident, severe weather conditions including gusty winds and heavy rainfall caused extensive damage in Kulgam village, South Kashmir. The storm affected residential structures, commercial buildings, and vehicles, leading to further distress in the region.
