JAMMU, In Kathua district of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, two individuals have been taken into custody for causing damage to a mosque, an act perceived as a violation of religious sentiments.
According to a news release by Kashmir Media Service, the detentions occurred in response to a formal grievance filed by Abdul Lateef, the mosque’s imam, with the Lakhanpur police station in Kathua. A police representative reported that the complaint detailed how unidentified individuals entered the mosque, shattered its glass windows, and discarded a battery and inverter into the courtyard.
The police spokesperson mentioned that the apprehension of the two individuals implicated in this incident was orchestrated under the guidance of Deputy Superintendent of Police Subash Chander.
The investigation into the matter is still ongoing. The spokesperson further assured that stringent measures will be enforced against any individuals attempting to disrupt the district’s communal peace and harmony.
