Turkish President’s Kashmir remarks at UNGA welcomed

Srinagar, September 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have welcomed the remarks of the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, regarding Kashmir dispute at the UN General Assembly.

President Erdogan in his speech at the UN General Assembly’s summit called for settling the Kashmir dispute under the relevant United Nations resolutions.

Hurriyat leader, Javaid Ahmad Mir, in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Kashmir dispute had been pending with the UN for the last several decades. He said, Kashmiris are also human beings and have given huge sacrifices for their birth right to self-determination promised to them by India, UN and other international community.

He appealed the UN and the international community to play role in resolving the lingering dispute so that permanent peace could be established in the region.

The Jammu and Kashmir Employees Movement spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar hailed the Turkish President for highlighting the Kashmir dispute at the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly.

He said, Turkey has always supported the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and thanked the Turkish President for his unequivocal stand on Kashmir. He said that India was hell bent upon suppressing the Kashmiris’ freedom movement through military might but was destined to fail in its nefarious designs.

The spokesman appreciated the role being played by Pakistan in highlighting the miseries of the people of the occupied territory at the international level. He thanked Prime Minister, Imran Khan on behalf of the people of Kashmir for raising at global forums the Kashmir dispute and the sufferings faced by the people of Kashmir.

Vice Chairman of Jammu Kashmir National Front Altaf Hussain Wani in a statement issued in Islamabad expressed his gratitude to the Turkish president for his continued support to the Kashmiris’ legitimate cause and for raising the issue vociferously during his speech to the UN General Assembly.

“We deeply appreciate the role of our brotherly country that besides lending all-out support to our struggle has significantly contributed in raising global awareness about the peaceful settlement of the long-pending Kashmir conflict,” he said.

Regarding the simmering situation in IIOJK, the JKNF leader said that it was high time that the UN should consider the establishment of an independent Commission of Inquiry as recommended by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in its two reports.
