Islamabad: Amb. Irfan Neziroglu, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye, met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, expressing mutual gratitude and commitment to strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif conveyed deep appreciation to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for Turkiye’s unwavering support during recent tensions in South Asia. He highlighted President Erdogan’s consistent solidarity with Pakistan, reflecting a strong bond between the two countries.
Prime Minister Sharif extended his thanks to the people of Turkiye for their support during challenging times, emphasizing the historical and fraternal ties that continue to grow stronger. He also acknowledged the Pakistani Armed Forces’ successful execution of “Operation Bunyan un Marsoos,” which he described as a significant achievement for the nation.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace in South Asia, while emphasizing the importance of national sovereignty. He mentioned that Pakistan’s agreement to a ceasefire understanding with India aligns with this commitment to peace.
On the bilateral front, Prime Minister Sharif expressed satisfaction with the progress in Pakistan-Turkiye relations since President Erdogan’s visit to Islamabad in February. He emphasized the importance of implementing the decisions made during high-level meetings and discussed the possibility of convening a Joint Commission between the foreign ministers of both countries.
Ambassador Neziroglu congratulated Prime Minister Sharif and the Pakistani nation for their military and diplomatic achievements. He reiterated Turkiye’s desire to enhance the strong fraternal ties with Pakistan and emphasized continued high-level engagements to further this relationship.
