Turbat Authorities Conduct Price Control Operations, Seize Expired Goods in Market Inspections

Turbat: Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Kich Ismail Ibrahim and Mayor Municipal Corporation Turbat Balkh Sher Qazi, a team led by Assistant Commissioner Turbat Muhammad Jan Baloch conducted a series of inspections across various markets in Turbat city. The operations aimed at reviewing food prices and enforcing compliance with government pricing regulations were carried out by the Price Control Committee and supervisors from the Municipal Corporation.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the team visited multiple markets to monitor the pricing of vegetables and fruits and the issuance of price lists by shopkeepers. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to prevent hoarding and artificial price inflation. Authorities have warned that strict measures, including heavy fines and potential shop closures, will be enforced against non-compliant shopkeepers.

During the inspections, the Price Control Committee examined the products in shops for both pricing and quality. They directed shop owners to maintain cleanliness and checked for expired goods, destroying all expired items found. Shopkeepers were also instructed to refrain from stocking over-expired goods in the future and were reminded to adhere strictly to the official rate list provided by the government. Failure to comply with these directives will result in severe penalties, as outlined by the authorities.

The actions taken during these inspections highlight the local government’s commitment to ensuring that consumers are not subjected to unfair trade practices and that food safety and hygiene are maintained in markets throughout Turbat.
