Tunnel Collapse in Northern India Traps Over 40 Workers

New Delhi, In a tragic accident in northern India, at least 40 construction workers were trapped after a road tunnel collapsed in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the collapse occurred early Sunday morning as workers were changing shifts. State disaster response official Durgesh Rathodi reported that about 200 meters of the tunnel had collapsed, complicating rescue efforts. The 4.5-kilometer-long tunnel, part of a project connecting two holy Hindu shrines, saw large concrete and metal debris obstructing rescue efforts. Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his prayers on social media for the safe rescue of the trapped workers.
