Islamabad, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists are compounding the strife in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by engaging in extortion, significantly impacting the region’s economic stability.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the TTP, referred to as Khawarij in the report, have been extracting extortion payments from contractors on development projects, as well as from notable figures including politicians, government workers, and industrialists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The group has also historically targeted tribal individuals residing in Karachi, issuing threats and disrupting lives under the guise of Islam an association rejected by the Muslim community and recently condemned by 1800 scholars through the national narrative of Paigham-e-Pakistan.
The ministry’s statement emphasized that these actions by the TTP are not only acts of violence but also contribute to economic challenges for the populace, as they undermine development efforts and create an atmosphere of instability and fear.
