Trump’s Mediation Offer on Kashmir Dispute Receives Support from Europe

Brussels: The Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU), Ali Raza Syed, has expressed support for U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent offer to mediate in the ongoing Kashmir dispute. This development emerges as a significant diplomatic gesture aimed at resolving the longstanding conflict between India and Pakistan over the region.

President Trump has publicly committed to collaborating with both Pakistan and India to seek a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir issue, a move that has been welcomed by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Kashmir Media Service reports that this proposal has also gained traction in Europe, with Ali Raza Syed urging immediate implementation of the mediation offer.

In his statement, Syed emphasized the necessity of a sustainable and lasting solution to the Kashmir conflict, noting that peace and prosperity in South Asia hinge on resolving the issue in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He called for negotiations that reflect the wishes of Kashmiris and align with United Nations resolutions.

Syed has urged India to reconsider its stance and accept U.S. mediation, highlighting the potential benefits to the country. He also called for an end to human rights violations in the region, the release of detainees, and access for international human rights observers.

Citing recent tensions, Syed noted incidents such as the destruction of residential homes and the detention of over 1,500 Kashmiris, underscoring the urgent need for action. He demanded the immediate release of all prisoners and the restoration of civil liberties for the people of Kashmir.
