Trump convened a high-profile summit with Arab and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) leaders in New York on September 23, 2025, to address the urgent humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The meeting, held during the UN General Assembly’s High-Level Week, focused on achieving an immediate ceasefire, releasing hostages, and delivering humanitarian aid to the besieged territory.
The summit, co-hosted by Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, saw participation from leaders of Jordan, Türkiye, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. The assembled leaders expressed gratitude to Trump for initiating the meeting and underscored the dire situation in Gaza, highlighting its regional and global ramifications.
Participants unanimously rejected forced displacement and advocated for the return of displaced individuals. They stressed the importance of Trump’s leadership in ending the war and establishing a just and lasting peace. The discussion also covered the development of a stabilization plan for the West Bank and Jerusalem’s holy sites, along with support for Palestinian Authority reforms.
The leaders pledged to collaborate on a comprehensive reconstruction program for Gaza, drawing on Arab and OIC proposals. They emphasized the importance of international assistance for the Palestinian Authority and affirmed their commitment to securing a peaceful future and regional collaboration.
High-ranking officials including foreign ministers and other dignitaries from participating nations also attended the summit. Trump’s delegation included Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Special Envoy Steven C. Witkoff.
