Troops brutally tortured men, women and children in Sopore

Srinagar, June 21, 2021 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian troops during the cordon and search operation (CASO) in Sopore town subjected every man, woman and child who came in their way to brutal torture. Above 1000 armed vehicles were used for this operation. All entry and exit points were sealed and media was not allowed to enter the town, according to eyewitness. Over 1000 locals including women and children were beaten, 150 were injured and shifted to hospital for treatment, the eye witnesses said, adding over 2 dozen boys were detained from different localities of Sopore and over 50 mobile phones were snatched from locals.

A local, wishing not to be named, said, this is the second time in the history of Sopore that the whole Sopore was cordoned off from up town to downtown. Even the people of Batpora are in shock at what had happened on Saturday. According to another local, around 9 police stations along with the counterinsurgency wing of police (Special Operation Groups), 22 RR and 52 RR of Indian army and the whole 178 battalion of CRPF participated in a day-long cordon and search operation in Sopore town. It is pertinent to mention that 3 Kashmiri youth were martyred in Gund Brath area of Sopore, today.
