Trilateral Conference of Pakistan, Turkiye, and Azerbaijan Speakers Begins in Islamabad


ISLAMABAD: The 3rd Trilateral Conference of the Speakers of Pakistan, Turkiye, and Azerbaijan commenced on Sunday in Islamabad. The three-day event seeks to enhance parliamentary cooperation among the nations and explore strategies for achieving sustainable peace, regional stability, and shared prosperity.



The conference features the participation of Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye, Numan Kurtulmus, and Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, Madame Sahiba Gafarova, along with their respective parliamentary delegations.



This meeting is part of an ongoing initiative to bolster inter-parliamentary dialogue and collaboration among the three countries. The aim is to solidify parliamentary relations and formulate a coordinated approach to address both regional and global challenges.



The conference underscores Pakistan’s commitment to parliamentary diplomacy, with goals of advancing peace, cooperation, and development across the region. It is viewed as a significant step in strengthening mutual trust and aspirations among the nations for a peaceful, stable, and prosperous future.



Before the plenary sessions, a Speakers’ Executive Meeting will take place to review the progress of previous decisions and finalize the agenda for the current meeting. The opening session will include addresses from the three speakers, and the event will conclude with the adoption of the “Islamabad Declaration,” setting a new course for trilateral cooperation.



Topics on the agenda include climate change, Sustainable Development Goals, disaster resilience, regional integrity, external threats, and cultural exchanges. Additionally, the delegates will visit Lahore to pay respects at the Mausoleum of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
