Srinagar, August 09, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders, organizations continued to pay rich tributes to prominent Kashmiri martyred leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz while posters have again appeared appealing people to conduct a march towards Eid Gah, Srinagar, on his 13th martyrdom anniversary falling on August 11.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has appealed for holding special prayer meetings on Wednesday to commemorate the martyrdom anniversaries of Shaikh Abdul Aziz and other martyrs. Shaikh Aziz was martyred by Indian troops on 11th of August in 2008 while he was leading a mammoth march to Azad Kashmir against the economic blockade of the Kashmir valley by Hindu extremists of Jammu.
The Hurriyat leaders Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Yasmeen Raja, Ghulam Nabi Waseem, Ghulam Nabi War, Ghulam Mohammad Khan Sopori, Dr Musaib, Syed Aijaz Rehmani, Shaikh Yaqoob, Zahid Ashraf, Mushtaq Ahmad Butt and others in their press statements paying tributes to Sheikh Abdul Aziz, pledged to continue the struggle till complete success. The sacrifices made by Aziz and his associates during the 2008 uprising cannot be forgotten, they added.
The leaders said that the martyrdom of Sheikh Abdul Aziz gave an impetus to the Kashmir freedom movement. The statements said, India as an occupying power has deprived the Kashmiri people of all political, religious and constitutional rights. The best way to pay tribute to Abdul Aziz and other Kashmiri martyrs is to continue their struggle with full dedication, they added.
Referring to the martyred leader’s role in the ongoing liberation struggle, they said that he was one of the pioneers of the freedom movement who went through trials and tribulations during his years’ long struggle for right to self-determination.
Jammu and Kashmir National Front spokesman in a statement said that Shaheed Sheikh Abdul Aziz was truly a man of honesty and integrity who devoted his entire life to the Kashmir cause. Recalling the incarcerated party chairman Nayeem Ahmed Khan’s long association with the martyred leader, the spokesman said that the duo have had worked together for several years under the banner of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League.
Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL) Vice Chairman Syed Aijaz Rehmani in a statement said Sheikh Abdul Aziz was martyred by Indian troops while he was leading a march from Srinagar to the Line of Control on August 11, 2008 against the economic blockade of the Kashmir Valley by Hindu extremists of Jammu.
Jammu and Kashmir Young Men’s League has announced to organize a public meet in the memory of, Shaheed-e- Azeemat, Sheikh Abdul Azeez. The party Vice- Chairman, Zahid Ashraf lauding the glorious services of the great leader, said that the party would organise a mass rally in his honour to commemorate his heroic struggle and his ultimate sacrifice for the freedom of his nation. Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob while paying tributes to the martyred leader urged people to make the call for March towards Eid Gah, Srinagar, a success on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, posters again were displayed by Warseen-e-Shuhada, Jammu and Kashmir Sada-e-Mazloom and Jammu and Kashmir Political Resistance Movement (JKPRM) in Srinagar and Pulwama districts urging people to pay tribute to the martyred leader at Mazar-e- Shuhada in Srinagar. The posters read Eid Gah Chaloo on August 11 and urged the Indian government to shun its misconception that Kashmiris’ spirit for freedom could be weakened through massacres, oppression and arrests.
