Muzaffarabad, July 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):Speakers of a condolence reference held in Muzaffarabad have said that the Kashmir dispute is a major obstacle to peace, stability and sustainable development in South Asia and the UN should take steps to settle it in accordance with its resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiris to save the people of the region from a catastrophe.
The condolence reference was held under the auspices of Jammu and Kashmir Peace and Justice Forum in memory of prominent leaders of Kashmir freedom movement Abdul Hameed Karimi Advocate and Muzaffar Ahmad Shah.
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peace and Justice Forum, Tanvirul Islam, in his address said India has intensified its atrocities in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir since August 05, 2019. “Every day, youth are being martyred, arrested and their homes are being destroyed with chemicals while thousands of Kashmiri youth are being held in jails,” he said.
Tanvirul Islam said India is resorting to cultural invasion and promoting hopelessness among the oppressed people of IIOJK to turn the Muslim majority in territory into a minority, to eradicate the Kashmiri culture and language besides snatching the jobs of other people. These Indian actions, he added, are increasing hatred against India and strengthening the spirit of freedom among the Kashmiris. He said more effective measures should be taken to present the Kashmir dispute to the international community.
Hurriyat leader, Abdul Shakoor Azad, read a paper on the life and services of late Abdul Hameed Karimi. He said that Abdul Hameed Karimi and Muzaffar Ahmad Shah were among the prisoners of the Kashmir freedom movement. Addressing the function, Fatima Muzaffar Shah, daughter of the late Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, said that her family would continue her father’s mission and keep supporting the Kashmir freedom movement.
Paying rich tributes to Abdul Hameed Karimi Advocate and Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, the speakers said the lives of these two leaders are a beacon light for the Kashmiris. Social leader Dawood Fahim Abbasi, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Qazi Shahid Hameed Advocate, Hurriyat leaders, Noorullah Qureshi, Bilal Ansari, Ghazi Ahmed, Mian Karimullah Qureshi and President of Private Schools Association Nishad Butt and young intellectual Raja Mumtaz Khan also spoke on the occasion.
